FAMILY FREESTANDING

Hey guys,

Today, I'm sharing my latest DT make for Daisy's Jewels and Crafts, using their gorgeous words on stands range of MDF  -  "FAMILY"

I used some paper from Hunkydory's all occasions essentials paper pad to cover the word, family. Then, Pebeo deco creme paint in matt fir green for the base.

I used a few elements from my stash of Wycinanka chipboard to accent the flowers on the base, and also painted these with the Pebeo paint.

The gorgeous flowers are from Craft Box and The Trinket Parlour.

I used some lovely mdf pieces from Daisy's Jewels and Crafts, flowers, stars, and hearts, which I painted with distress paint in Spun Sugar. Then, embellished with gems and pearls.

I outlined the word with a Spectrum Noir alcohol marker in DG3 (green)
Hope you like :)

APOTHECARY/STEAMPUNK 3D FRAME

Hey everyone,

I'm so excited to announce that I'm now on the Daisy's Jewels & Crafts design team.  Eeeeeeek. Which means I get to get my hands on all sorts of lush mdf and be creative!

For this DT project I used the gorgeous 3D frame #3, find this on www.daisysjewelsandcrafts.com
I covered it one of Stamperia's vintage clocks and dragonflies rice papers, using mod podge.
When it was dry, I used vintage photo distress ink to age it more.

I created a fantastic rusty key, using Finnabair's rust effect paste, and added this to the top of the frame. Then, added the mdf word, "Authentic" - from Daisy's Jewels and Crafts. I gave it a quick wash with frayed burlap distress paint.

Daisy's Jewels & Crafts do so many amazing mdf goodies, so I chose some cogs, old keys, and a birdcage to embellish my frame. I was going with a shadow box kind of idea, and love the steampunk and apothecary look.

I used a few metal embellishments too, and used Tim Holtz ideaology bits n bobs to embellish the frame too, including his apothecary vials.

I added ball chain, via screw eyes at the back, to hang to the wall, and a few screw eyes and swivel clasps under the frame to add a mini pocket watch, key, and cog. I then added a mini frame on the front, with "Dream" added to it.

I was pleased with the outcome, I hope you like it too.

STEAMPUNK BOOKENDS

I've had these plain mdf bookends for a long while now, and wanted to make them a bit more interesting. Seeing as I'm hugely into steampunk, I decided to use some mdf cogs, rather large ones to attach to the bookends.

Firstly, I painted everything in a wash of DecoArt Prussian blue hue paint, dried it, then added a layer of Quinacridone gold over the top, to give an aged and rusty look.

I then added the cogs to the bookends, not easy, but so worth it.

SHABBY CHIC SIGN

Here we have a lovely shabby chic 'home' sign. I bought this from The Works, it was only £2! I wanted to make it look vintage/shabby chic, so I covered it in Sara's signature collection "Shabby Chic" papers, then painted on some DecoArt crackle paste.

Once dried, I added some paper flowers, that I had highlighted with a gold pen, and a lovely mdf butterfly that I distressed and embellished with wire and some little gems.

ALTERED BOOK

I absolutely loved making this. I used a paper mache storage book from IndigoBlu and covered it in white tissue paper and mod podge. Once dry, I used antique linen, black soot, and antiqued bronze distress paints, and lots of water, to cover both inside and out.

When that had dried, I stencilled onto the front, back, and inside, using Tim Holtz stencils. I used loads of ideaology goodies to decorate, and lots of metal cogs and gears, and a greyboard Tando clock for the front
